Sports Bodybuilding

Bodybuilding

Bodybuilding is the art of sculpting a balanced and muscular body through resistance training, diet and rest. At a competitive level it is all about impressing a panel of judges, who are looking for the most aesthetically pleasing and balanced physique.

Bodybuilding competitors perform a series of well-practised poses designed to show off their physique to best effect. A good pose can make the difference between winning and losing. Body builders are required to perform seven compulsory poses: front double-biceps, front lat-spread, side chest, back double biceps, back lat-spread, side triceps, and abs and thighs.

Badminton History

Badminton is named after Badminton House, where the game was first played in England in the 1850s. However, badminton evolved from the ancient Chinese game of Ti Jian Zi, the first game to have used a shuttlecock. In a game of Ti Jian Zi, players used only their feet to stop the shuttlecock from touching the ground.

Athletics History

The word athletics comes from the Greek "athlos" meaning "contest". A track running race, known as the "stade", was the first and only event at the first ancient Olympics in 776BC.

Later, more running distances were added, along with the long jump and a pentathlon event which introduced the discus and javelin.
