Muhammad Ali Jinnah was born at Karachi on December 25, 1876.The founder of Pakistan and the father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, was one of the greatest statesmen and certainly the most outstanding leader of the Muslims in the subcontinent.
He was admitted to bar in England and then he returned to India and became an active supporter of The Indian National Congress. In 1913, he joined the Muslim League. In 1916, he was elected the president of the Muslim League, he was re-elected to this post again in 1920. He played an important role in bringing about the Lucknow Pact of 1916. In the Lucknow Pact, the Congress agreed to ensure a separate electorate for the muslim community. He resigned from the Congress in 1930 and channelised all his efforts towards the ends of the Muslim League.
Quaid-e-Azam returned from England in 1934, and galvanised the Muslim League into a most dynamic organisation. "We are a nation" he asserted, "with our own distinctive culture and civilisation, language and literature, art and architecture, names and nomenclature, sense of value and proportion, legal laws and moral codes, customs and calendar, history and tradition, aptitude and ambitions; in short, we have our own distinctive outlook on life and of life. By all canons of international law we are a nation".
He headed the Muslim League and struggled until the creation of the Independent Pakistan. He was appointed the first Governor general of Pakistan.
Famous Quaid-e-Azam Sayings are:
"We are Muslims believe in one Allah, one Prophet (peace be upon him) and one Quran. So it is also essential for us to be one nation because strength lies in unity. Pakistan will break into pieces if we consider ourselves as Punjabis, Sindhis, etc. first and then Muslims and Pakistanis. We all are now Pakistanis, not Balochis, not Pathans, not Sindhis, not Punjabis." "Whatever we feel or do should be only as Pakistanis. Everybody should love his village, his town and his city and should work hard for its development. However, it is more important to love our country than our city or town. We should work much harder for the sake of our country."   |
